“It all started at a pool party”
Going throughout school I rarely found time to enjoy myself but a close friend of mine dragged me out the house to a pool party on the North side of Jacksonville that would change my life forever. While there I had a few drinks, but honestly found myself not enjoying the party and reviewing school notes in my head… until I saw her. She was sitting with a friend beside the pool and I walked over to her and said hello… it was at that moment I realized that she wasn’t that into me. We shared causal small talk and by the Power of God himself I got her phone number and got her to agree to a lunch date. That lunch date led to shotgunning hookah (I don’t even smoke) and sharing a karaoke car ride as we visited several eateries and lounges in the city exchanging goals and sweet convo together for hours. And that I guess is what you say, the rest is history.

“A random Friday evening in Jacksonville North”
Being new to the Jacksonville area, I frequently explored new places to get adjusted to my surroundings. One random weekend in September of 2018, I attended a backyard pool party on Jacksonville's Northside with a friend. While dancing and having a good time, I met James, who of course "tried to play cool, laid back, but couldn't resist smiling in nervousness" at me. I also "played" a certain coolness, acting like I wasn't entirely interested in James' advances. We exchanged numbers and met the next day for a Sunday brunch at South Kitchen, which led to hanging out at Tent, and to Miller's Ale House. If you are familiar with these places you would know, this is quite a lot to be doing in one day. The day was spent just learning about one another and after moments of casually playing cool, I knew we would continue to be in each other’s company even with James constantly complaining about being a broke doctoral student.

The Legacy
The greatest part of our story is our beautiful daughter, who entered our world in April 2021, creating an unimaginable shift in us and crystallizing our familial unit. Sage, you are our greatest love and we are so happy to have you along this journey of life, love, and legacy with us.
The Proposal
On November 27, 2022, James, Tiffany, and Sage attended a local photography studio for a Christmas photo. Unbeknownst to Tiffany, James set up this session to serve as a multipurpose moment to capture the next step for their family. While engaging in what was understood to be family photos, James asked for Tiffany's hand in marriage in the presence of their daughter, affirming what both Tiffany and James could ever imagine for their love, legacy, and union.
